Haig-Brown Heritage House The Haig-Brown House is the former home of Roderick and Ann Haig-Brown between 1936 and 1975. Roderick was a conservationist and author, writing over 25 books on natural history and conservation. He and Ann were key players in the defending the Fraser River from hydroelectric dams. The Haig-Brown property totals almost 20 acres with forests and farmland. The home and surrounding area was dedicated as an historic site in 1990. Today the home offers tours and serves as a museum, bed and breakfast, seminar venue and more. Guests are also invited to walk the property's trails and listen to the Campbell River as it flows by. Campbell River Telegraph Line Completed in 1912, the Campbell River telegraph/telephone line was completed as a project funded by the Canadian government to improve communication on the northern end of Vancouver Island. The line was strung from tree to tree to reach its final destination at Telegraph Cove, which is a popular whale-watching and outdoor adventure destination today. |
